Marc Borowitz, President and Owner
Marc Borowitz is self-taught as he spent his youth in the kitchen and worked his way up from bus boy to opening his own restaurant, Brandon's in 1984. Brandon's has since developed into the very successful Rincon Beach Club & Catering which boasts two premier locations-Rincon Beach Club in Carpinteria and Zoo Catering Services at the Santa Barbara Zoo. Marc loves cooking and can often be found in the kitchen developing new menus, especially food with full body flavors, hitting all areas of the taste buds-sweet, salty, spicy. Marc has a strong passion for the event industry and is very hands-on with the management of the company. He believes in giving guests an amazing experience from start to finish. Marc has been married to Carol for over 20 years. He loves to play golf and soccer with his sons and is an avid reader.
Carol Borowitz, Event Planner & Decor Specialist
Carol Borowitz is co-founder, with her husband Marc, of Rincon Beach Club and Catering. Two of the many roles Carol has for the company are event planning and the decor specialist. For over a decade Carol has worked side by side with Marc sharing her passion for the business and enriching the lives of many people. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Business Administration bachelor degree and Accounting minor. Credited largely to her expertise, many of the recipes still used within the business were first developed by Carol; the legendary chocolate brownies are particularly a company favorite. Carol enjoys skiing with her four children and hiking with her three dogs.
Melissa Lee (Sylvester) Younce, Wedding Specialist and Sales Manager
Melissa Lee Younce has called Santa Barbara her home for over 30 years. After she graduated from Santa Barbara High School, she attended The School of Culinary Arts and Hotel Management Program at Santa Barbara City College under the direction of John Dunn. Melissa first started with Rincon as one of our service staff. With her culinary background, she quickly moved from the front of the house to back of the house and began working as the assistant to the chef. It wasn't long until she realized her passion for service and choose to be a part of the sales team. This move helped her realize her real love, weddings. In 2009 she was voted Best Wedding Planner by Santa Barbara in the Independents "Best of" issue. When she's not creating dream weddings or managing the Sales Team, she's off playing with her super cute bulldog, Mayzie Lynn and new husband, Paul.
Ashley Schaefer, Corporate Sales Manager
Ashley became a member of Rincon in 2003 as part of the administrative office team. Moving to the sales team in 2004, Ashley has a hand in all areas of Corporate Catering, from small office lunch deliveries to full service events for over 600 guests. Ashley’s knowledge of the corporate world makes her a key partner for UCSB, Commission Junction, CKE Restaurants, Clipper Windpower and Mentor Group.
Angie Chaves, Zoo Catering Services, Event Planner
Angie Chaves plays a prominent role Rincon Catering Inc., as the Zoo Catering Services Event Planner. Angie grew up in Santa Barbara attending a local high school followed by Santa Barbara City College; where she completed three associate degrees. Her degrees are in Marketing, Small Business, and Liberal Arts, no time was wasted after graduation, she immediately started working for Rincon Catering Inc. Angie recently has started her 7th year working with the company. When Angie is not working hard in the office to serve her clients to the fullest, she is spending time with her friends and family enjoying her native home.
Flavia Ritterstein, Operations Manager
Flavia began her Rincon career as the Laguna Blanca School Lunch Client Representative in 2000. Having shown great organization and attention to detail, Flavia became a member of the operations team in 2004, moving to Operations Manager in 2006. Her responsibilities include efficiently managing the setup, organization and daily chaos that comes with being a part of a catering team! Jose Garica, Kitchen Manager / Chef
Pepe began his Rincon career almost 10 year ago, packing trucksand setting up for parties in our Operations Department. Having shown great organization and a passion for cooking, Pepe became a member of the kitchen team and in 2011 became our Kitchen Manger/ Chef.
